Mert studied technology and social studies before starting his law degree. This has turned out to be the perfect combination: Mert sees law as a challenging combination of technology and ethics in which human behaviour and social structures play a role that should not be underestimated. He obtained his doctorate in the field of civil law of evidence. Mert is a partner in the firm and a deputy justice at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal.
